The Security Industry Authority is developing a new and easier way for individual applicants to apply for their SIA licence. An agreement has been signed with the Post Office to launch the new service.

The service will be introduced this autumn and will make applying for a new SIA licence easier and cheaper; applicants will no longer need to routinely send in documents and a photograph, which can be costly and inconvenient.

SSAIB assessors Dee O’Connell- Kidby and Alan Ennis have recently won the Security Industry Authority’s ‘Carry on regardless’ and ‘Newcomer’ awards. These presentations relate to Dee’s professional behaviour when coping with particularly unusual, funny or difficult circumstances, while, Alan’s recognition reflects his keen, eager to learn and thorough approach towards assessing, combined with his professionalism and sense of humour.

SIA Chief Executive Bill Butler was on-hand to acknowledge both Dee and Alan’s achievements.

It is with sadness that we announce the death of David Allen, who was the regional inspector for East Anglia and Essex.  David joined us in June 2003 and was an active inspector who will be sadly missed by all his colleagues. Our thoughts go out to his family at this sad time.

Emma Shaw has been elected as the new Security Institute chairman. She takes over from outgoing chairman Mike Bluestone, after the election by the Board of Directors, during the Counter Terror Expo in London on the 24^th April.
